Projects Reports and Information

Project Year One focused on data collection and analysis of results. Provided here are the reports and information acquired:

Synopsis of Simulation Site Visits
This report provides information from visits made to four national simulation programs and six simulation centers located within Florida to identify practices, issues, and trends that merit further development or ought to be avoided as recommendations are considered for implementation in Florida.

Quantitative Research Findings for the FCN Simulation Project
This executive summary provides findings from the primary quantitative research survey of hospitals and nurse education programs in Florida conducted to identify existing simulation resources and to obtain data about how simulation is used.

Qualitative Research Findings for FCN Simulation Project
This executive summary is based upon primary qualitative research conducted in each region of the State of Florida among key stakeholders identified as educators, employers, community representatives / leaders, nurses, and nursing students. As well, it is based upon insights gained from in-depth interviews with people who supply technical resources involved in simulation, State of Florida legislators, and funders.

Addressing the Nursing Shortage through Simulation (White Paper)
The project goal is to maximize the use of simulation technology in the preparation of new and continuing education of current Registered Nurses in Florida thus addressing the nursing shortage by increasing the nurse supply through increased production and retention. The Project Team will include Florida Center for Nursing staff, UCF College of Nursing faculty, and a national expert in nursing education and its use of simulation. An advisory panel will be established to provide expertise and promote collaboration. The proposed project will be conducted over a two-year period.
