Retention & Recruitment
The Florida Center for Nursing believes that increasing production alone will not resolve the nursing shortage. We must retain the experiential knowledge of senior nurses to complement the influx of new graduates, fill vacancies in high-demand settings, and optimize the quality of care. Thus an essential strategy to resolve the nursing shortage in our state is to improve the retention of existing nurses in employment settings. Also important in addressing the shortage is continued recruitment of qualified applicants who represent the diverse population of Florida and increasing the ratio of men in nursing.

This section of our website contains information on retention and recruitment strategies. And, it provides the opportunity for sharing successful strategies that may be implemented in diverse employment settings.

Here you can learn about the Center's Retention & Recruitment Funded Project Initiative and view information on our 2008 recipients. As the projects are completed, we will share the success stories and help distribute information to initiate strategies in your own work setting.
